Racial Equity in the Arts (AZ) For the past year, we have worked with institutions, arts organizations, individual artists, and community organizers to develop a policy platform for racial equity in Phoenix.
We take a systems-change approach, which means we locate the conflict and opportunity of racial equity in policy and institutions. Our methodology is a fusion of community organizing (basing need and expertise in those most impacted) with arts organizing (how can artists help tell stories of power and support placekeeping efforts). We provide tools for leaders to make positive impact toward racial equity in institutions. Racial Equity workshops take place over 3 - 6 hours depending on need and goal. Our workshops fuse theory, participant engagement, and knowledge sharing with active learning processes and community building. Our Racial Equity workshops are best suited for those working in the following areas: Arts, Humanities, Social Work, and Community Engagement.
Racial equity work is difficult, but through collaboration and trust we can create healthy organizational practices and policies.
The workshops address the following frameworks and practices:
Systems-change
Leadership development
Awareness and self-reflection
Unconscious bias and white privilege
Practical / Daily tools to achieve racial equity
Resource development and culture shift
